If you read my opening message here at My Man Cave you know I’ve had a lot of success in 2016. Not on a grand scale by any means but I made major strides in my career and I found myself promoted and in charge of my office.

A little too soon? Maybe. Was I the most qualified person for the job? Maybe not. Is there anyone in this company who will out work me or shows more of a willingness to learn? ABSOLUTLEY NOT!

Well recently I found myself in the mindset of being overwhelmed and almost feeling like I was in over my head. My office has run into a little bit of a down period and we’ve had to make some serious financial cutbacks both in assets and personnel. Now I’m going to be honest I don’t really have any experience doing this. After I freaked out for a few minutes I sat down and told myself a couple of things.

  1. They put me in this position for a reason. They (my company) believe I can do this.

  1. I’m smart, I’m capable and I can figure this out. Just be confident and get it done.

Now to some people that last one may sound cheesy but it really isn’t. The one thing I’ve learned over the last year is that confidence is an incredible asset to have. Confidence makes you believe in yourself. Being confident makes you willing to attack challenges and new opportunities head on. You can’t be afraid to take something new on. If you are afraid to accept new challenges and new opportunities, you will never succeed and never achieve anything in the business world.

The business world isn’t the only place that confidence will lead to success. I know I’m not breaking any new ground here but women like guys that are confident. They like guys who aren’t afraid to take on new challenges and be confident that they can succeed. Women like guys who know they are going to be successful.

Looking back now I wish I didn’t wait till the age of 35 to find this inner confidence in myself. If I would have found this at 25 and been this person for 10 years and not just a year my life would be in a completely different place.

I don’t dwell in the past. I know who I am now. I know what I’m capable of. If someone presents a challenge or a new opportunity to me I attack with confidence knowing that I will get it done.

Education is Great.

Experience is Great.

What’s the Key to Success?

For me nothing beats confidence. If you believe in yourself and in your abilities, there is nothing you can’t accomplish.
